Norwich has no council fireworks on New Year's Eve. What is on for 31 December: Channel One at the Arts Centre to 1am, two Peter Pan shows, and New Year's Day.
Norwich has no council fireworks display or street party on New Year’s Eve, and nothing is listed for 31 December on the city council’s events planner. The night happens in the venues instead. The biggest ticketed event announced so far is Channel One Sound System at Norwich Arts Centre, 7.30pm to 1am, and the Theatre Royal pantomime plays twice that day.
New Year’s Eve 2026 falls on a Thursday, so New Year’s Day is a Friday and a bank holiday.
The quick answer
- City fireworks: none. On 24 October the council’s events planner said “there are currently no events listed” for 30 December to 1 January.
- Late night: Channel One Sound System, Norwich Arts Centre, 7.30pm to 1am, from £30, over 18s.
- Family: Peter Pan at the Theatre Royal, 1pm and 5pm, from £33.92.
- New Year’s Day: organ recital at Norwich Cathedral at 11am, Eucharist at noon.
Channel One Sound System at Norwich Arts Centre
The Arts Centre has booked the sound system for New Year’s Eve, billing it as “heavyweight bass and roots back to Norwich”. What the venue states:
- When: Thursday 31 December, open 7.30pm to 1am.
- Where: Norwich Arts Centre, St Benedicts Street.
- Tickets: £30 first release, £35 second release, £40 final release. Arts Centre supporters save between £1.50 and £3.50 a ticket.
- Who: standing only, over 18s.
Tiered releases mean the price only goes up, so if you know you are going, earlier is cheaper.
Peter Pan on New Year’s Eve
Norwich Theatre Royal’s pantomime, The All New Adventures of Peter Pan, runs from 5 December to 3 January and has two shows on 31 December, at 1pm and 5pm. On 24 October the cheapest seats on sale for those two performances were £35.25 for the 1pm and £33.92 for the 5pm (Norwich Theatre). The 5pm show finishes in time to get home before the late-evening crowds. Every date, price and dark day of the run is on our pantomime page.
New Year’s Day
Norwich Cathedral lists a New Year’s Day Organ Recital at 11am on Friday 1 January, followed by the New Year’s Day Eucharist at noon. Its Christmas page gives opening hours of 8am to 4.30pm on both 31 December and 1 January, with normal hours from Saturday 2 January. The rest of the cathedral’s Christmas programme is on our Norwich Cathedral at Christmas page.
Winter Wonderland at the Norfolk Showground is open every day from 26 December to 3 January, noon to 9pm, including New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (Winter Wonderland Norwich). More on our Winter Wonderland page.
What is not announced yet
Most bars, hotels and clubs publish New Year’s Eve tickets in November and December, and nothing else in the city had a dated 2026 listing on its own website when we checked. The Halls, Norwich Theatre’s other stages and the council’s events planner had nothing on 31 December. We will add events as organisers publish them.
Getting home
Trains and buses finish early on New Year’s Eve. National Rail says some routes finish early on 31 December, and last year First Bus in Norwich ran a Saturday service with last buses around 7pm; the 2026 bus times are not out yet. Our Christmas trains and travel page will carry them as soon as they are published.
If you are driving in for an evening show, our parking in Norwich page has the multi-storeys and evening charges, and roadworks and travel carries anything closed that week.
