Norwich Beer Festival is back at The Halls from 26 October and Luxmuralis lights the cathedral from the 27th. Every date, time and price for six weeks.

The two biggest dates in the next six weeks fall in the same half-term week. Norwich Beer Festival is back inside The Halls from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October, and Time by Luxmuralis lights up Norwich Cathedral from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October. Before then the Theatre Royal has four touring shows in five weeks, two charity night walks start from Chapelfield Gardens, and The Forum has a market or fair most weekends.

  • Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man, Tuesday 29 September to Saturday 3 October, 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees on Thursday and Saturday. Norwich Theatre Royal, Theatre Street.   • Benedictine lecture: Freedom and rules in the sculpture of Norwich Cathedral’s cloister, Wednesday 30 September, 7pm. Weston Room, Norwich Cathedral. One of the cathedral’s 2026 lectures on the Benedictine tradition (Norwich Cathedral).
  • The Addams Family, Wednesday 30 September to Sunday 4 October. Norwich Playhouse, St George’s Street. From £26.50. Sound Ideas Theatre Company’s production of the musical: 7.30pm Wednesday to Saturday, 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 6pm on Sunday (Norwich Theatre).
  • Ballads and Songs: Sam Carter sings Nic Jones, Thursday 1 October, 7.30pm. Norwich Arts Centre, St Benedicts Street. £16, or £14 for supporters. The BBC Folk Award winner plays Nic Jones’s songs (Norwich Arts Centre).
  • The Music of Whitney: The Candlelight Concert, Friday 2 October, 7.30pm to 9.45pm. The nave, Norwich Cathedral. A tribute concert of Whitney Houston’s hits (Norwich Cathedral).
  • Norwich Record Fair, Saturday 3 October, 9am to 3.30pm. The Atrium, The Forum. Run by VIP Record Fairs, and back on Sunday 8 November and Sunday 13 December (The Forum).
  • Norwich: One Community, Many Hearts, Saturday 3 October, 10.30am to 3.30pm. Outside The Forum. Free. Dance and live music in memory of John Tyson, raising funds for Priscilla Bacon Lodge Hospice (The Forum).
  • Specialist talk: Edith Cavell, a Life of Service, Saturday 3 October, 11.30am. Weston Room, Norwich Cathedral. An illustrated talk on the Norfolk nurse (Norwich Cathedral).
  • Shine Night Walk Norwich, Saturday 3 October. Chapelfield Gardens. Entry £17.49. Cancer Research UK’s 10k walk through the city. The council lists the event from 6.30pm to 11pm, and walkers get their own start time by email (Cancer Research UK, Norwich City Council).
  • The Four Seasons and The Lark Ascending by Candlelight, Saturday 3 October, 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The nave, Norwich Cathedral. Played by London Concertante (Norwich Cathedral).
  • Dad’s Army Museum Meet and Greet, Sunday 4 October, 9am to 5pm. Outside The Forum. Free. The Thetford museum brings the original Jones’s van from the series and its platoon of lookalikes (The Forum).

Saturday 3 October is the busy one. The record fair, the community event and the night walk all use the streets around The Forum and Chapelfield Gardens.   • Operation Mincemeat, Monday 5 to Saturday 10 October, 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees on Wednesday and Saturday. Norwich Theatre Royal. From £21.20. The Olivier Award-winning musical. Five of the eight performances were sold out on 29 September. Monday evening, Wednesday evening and Saturday evening still had seats, on limited availability (Norwich Theatre).

  • Local Makers Market, Saturday 10 October, 10am to 4pm. The Forum. More than 80 stalls inside and outside (The Forum).
  • Norfolk and Waveney Mind’s Night Walk and Silent Disco, Saturday 10 October. Chapelfield Gardens, then The Forum. Walk tickets from £10, silent disco from £7.50. The site opens at 4pm, the 5km walk leaves in waves from 6.30pm, and the disco runs from 8pm to 10pm (Norfolk and Waveney Mind).
  • Lions Feed the 5000 Norwich, Sunday 11 October, 10am to 4pm. Outside The Forum. Free. Hot meals cooked from surplus food, served from 11am, with a free fruit and vegetable giveaway (The Forum).

  • 47th Norwich Beer Festival, Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October. The Halls. Door prices £3 to £8. The first public session is Monday from 5pm to 10pm at £5. Daytime sessions from Tuesday start at 11.30am. Thursday and Friday evenings run to 11pm at £8, and Saturday is one session from 11.30am to 9.30pm at £5. Over 18s only (Norwich and District CAMRA).   • Time by Luxmuralis, Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October, timed entry every 15 minutes from 5.15pm to 8pm. Norwich Cathedral. A light and sound installation through the building, entered from the cloister, with visits lasting about 45 minutes (Norwich Cathedral).

  • Jabbawocky Crafts Christmas Market, Saturday 7 November, 10am to 4pm. The Forum. The first of the season’s craft markets there (The Forum).
  • The Cabinet of Dr Caligari with MINIMA live score, Saturday 7 November, 7.30pm. Norwich Playhouse. £25.44. Norwich Film Festival screens the 1920 silent film with a live four-piece score, 80 minutes with no interval (Norwich Theatre).

Regular events

  • Norwich Market, Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 5.30pm. Gentleman’s Walk. Free to visit. More than 190 stalls of street food, produce, clothes and gifts (Norwich City Council).
  • Norwich parkrun, every Saturday, 9am. Eaton Park. Free. A timed 5k on hard paths. Register once before your first run and bring your barcode (Norwich parkrun).

Getting there

The Forum, the Theatre Royal, Chapelfield Gardens and the market are within a few minutes’ walk of each other. The Halls, the Playhouse and the cathedral are a short walk north and east of the market. Our page on parking in Norwich has the car parks and current charges. Check roadworks and travel before a weekend trip, and train times to London if you are coming by rail.
